Former Oakland Raiders defensive lineman Warren Sapp was announced Saturday as part of the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2013. Sapp, who played four seasons with the Silver and Black, is one of seven individuals included in the group, joining Larry Allen, Cris Carter, Curley Culp, Jonathan Ogden, Bill Parcells and Dave Robinson.
Sapp recorded 96.5 sacks over a 13-year career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Raiders. He was named All-Pro four times, voted to seven Pro Bowls, and was named as part of two NFL All-Decade Teams (1990s and 2000s).
Sapp played for the Silver and Black from 2004-07, starting all 58 games in which he appeared and totaling 19.5 sacks.
Saturday’s annual selection meeting was held in New Orleans, La., site of Super Bowl XLVII. The newest members of the Hall of Fame were selected from a list of 17 finalists who had been determined earlier by the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Selection Committee.
