This will be the 12th meeting between these two teams. The Raiders lead the all-time series 7-4.

1970s and 80s

The Raiders and Giants first met in 1973 with the Raiders trouncing the Giants 42-0. The Raiders won the next two meetings (1980, 1983). Coincidently, the Silver and Black won Super Bowls after those two seasons.

The Giants won the next two contests in 1986 and 1989.

1990s – 2010s

The Raiders won the next four in the series, 1992 in Los Angeles, in 1995 and 1998 in Oakland, and in 2001 at the Giants. The Giants have won the last two meetings – 2005 in Oakland and in New Jersey in 2009.

These teams have been two of the most successful in the NFL history since the AFL/NFL merger in 1970. The Raiders have appeared in five Super Bowls winning three. The Giants have won four in five chances.

Notable moments in this series include RB Napoleon Kaufman’s 80-yard touchdown run on the first play from scrimmage in the Raiders 13-10 win in 1998. QB Jeff George threw for 303 yards in that game.

In 1992, a K Jeff Jaeger 54-yard field goal was the difference a 13-10 Raiders victory.

In November of 2001, the Raiders traveled to East Rutherford, N.J., for the first time after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Oakland won that game 28-10. QB Rich Gannon tossed three TD passes including a 46-yarder to WR Tim Brown. Kerry Collins started at quarterback for the Giants.

Collins would eventually succeed Gannon as the Raiders starting quarterback. Gannon finished his career the #2 passer in Raiders history, while Collins cracked the Top 10 and finished his time with the Raiders 9th all-time in team history.
