As the Alameda County Community Food Bank braces for a spike in need during the summer months, members of the Oakland Raiders are partnering with the Food Bank to help their neighbors in need.

“Since joining the Raiders, Aaron has clearly made it a priority to give back to the community, and his generous support of the Alameda County Community Food Bank has made a significant difference in lives of local families struggling with hunger,” said Michael Altfest, communications manager for the Food Bank. “We’re so fortunate to have partners like Aaron and the entire Raiders organization who put forth an abundance of time and energy to supporting vital local causes.”
The Alameda County Community Food Bank serves 1 in 6 residents in Alameda County, nearly half of which are children. The Food Bank expects record demand this summer when families cannot rely on free or reduced-priced school meals to provide healthy breakfasts and lunches for their children. In total, the Food Bank serves 49,000 people each week – more than two-thirds the capacity of the O.co Coliseum during a Raiders home game.
Curry’s support of the Food Bank is part of the team’s ongoing commitment to giving back to the local community. Raiders players, staff and family have supported the Alameda County Community Food Bank through various initiatives, including volunteer events, in-stadium fundraisers and food drives, and through Taste of the NFL, which raises awareness of dollars for hunger relief organizations nationwide.
Since 1985, the Alameda County Community Food Bank has been at the forefront of hunger-relief efforts in the Bay Area. This year the Food Bank will distribute 22 million pounds of food, more than half farm-fresh produce. The Food Bank serves 1 in 6 Alameda County residents by distributing food through a network of 275 food pantries, soup kitchens, and other community organizations.
